Ranks & Insignia - Imperial Army - Generals
Ranks & Insignia - Imperial Army - Officers
For those ones I choose not to use the US Army insignia as a base.
While the USN 'gold stripes and a star' scheme is an international one found in many navies around the world, with only few variation; the 'bar(s)/leaf/eagle' one is a very specific one found nowhere but in the US.
Instead I settled for a '1,2,3 then 1,2,3 again' scheme common to the UK and many other of the world armies.
Here is my take at Imperial Army rank insignia, in two flavors: full dress, and low dress/utility...
Ranks & Insignia - Imperial Marines - Officers
For those I admittedly choose the easy way: using the navy ones, only replacing gold by maroon. However, one detail leaves me unhappy: was I to make tactical insignia, i.e. black on camo ones, IN and IM would look exactly the same. To mark the distinction, I'd like (given enough free time that is) to make new marines ranks with a 'cutlass on sunburst' device instead of the plain sunburst. A bit like the device seen on the flank of a cutter in the GURPS Traveller: Modular Cutter book. But with a cutlass instead of a plain sword.
